Crown Lengthening
Periodontists may recommend a crown lengthening procedure for cosmetic or restorative purposes. This procedure involves the removal of gum tissue or bone—sometimes both—in order to reveal more tooth structure. Crown lengthening is usually performed under local anesthesia.
Crown lengthening can help improve the appearance of “gummy” smiles—smiles in which the teeth appear short because gum tissue covers up too much of the tooth structure. This procedure is also used to make enough room to accommodate a dental restoration (such as a crown or bridge) when there is insufficient visible tooth structure.
Contact us today if you have any questions about crown lengthening or to schedule an oral health consultation with Dr. Dehni. We’ll be happy to explain how we can help you achieve the functional, attractive smile of your dreams.
