Multiple Tooth Implant New Bedford, Falmouth, & Hyannis, MA
You may not know this, but you stand in the middle between two different clubs that no one wants to be a member of. You are one of the 120 million American adults that have lost at least one tooth, and you are moving towards becoming one of the 30 million Americans who have lost all of their teeth. Most people can get away with the loss of one tooth, especially if it is in the back of their mouth. However, when you begin to lose additional teeth, especially if they are all on one side of your mouth, you begin to have problems. You may not want to smile. Your favorite foods might not be an option for you, either. Going out with friends might not be an option for you either, because you are self-conscious about your smile. If you want to do something about your multiple tooth loss, we have a solution. Let Center for Advanced Periodontics and Implant Dentistry give you information about multiple tooth implants.
Why Do I Need A Multiple Tooth Implant?
There are lots of reasons you may need a multiple tooth implant. One reason people get a multiple tooth implant is that they want to look and feel better about themselves. They want a boost to their self-confidence. People also get multiple tooth implants because they need help chewing, and they are having trouble doing it. A multiple tooth implant allows you to be able to chew your food without a problem. Multiple tooth implants also mean that your teeth will remain in place rather than shifting to fill the spaces your teeth left behind. Also, your body will no longer take slivers of bone from your jaw if it thinks you have teeth in place of the teeth you lost. One of the great things about multiple tooth implants is that your body believes the teeth are in place, so you don’t lose jawbone. Over time, this can make a dramatic difference in the shape of your jaw, and your face as well.
What Happens During a Multiple Tooth Implant?
To perform a multiple tooth implant, we need to first have a look at the area where we need to place an implant. We have to make sure your gums are clear of infection, or pieces of tooth and tooth root if you lost your teeth through trauma. If your gum tissue is inflamed or infected, we need to treat that first, wait for your gums to heal, then perform the implant. When your gums are healthy, we then make an incision on your gums. Usually, we have to make between two and four incisions on your gumline to place the screws. We screw the screws down into your jawbone so that they will anchor the implant. When the screws have been placed, we can place a multiple tooth implant on top, but we have to wait for the gums to fully heal first.
When your implants are placed, they will look and act the way your natural teeth would. You’ll be able to eat all your favorite foods. You can laugh and smile with friends. Your jaw will remain intact, and your face shape won’t change. Implants are the best way we know to replace the teeth you lost.
