Seeing Blood When You Brush Rarely May Not Signify AnythingNoticing traces of blood in your sink could rush you into thinking you have an underlying oral condition. However, as much as bleeding is a common sign of an underlying oral condition, sometimes, it may not signify anything. There are many causes of bleeding in your mouth that don't necessarily imply you have an oral problem. Understanding some of these causes will help you make a better decision when faced with such situations. However, it is important that you call us immediately you notice the bleeding is persistent or occurring regularly. Such kind of bleeding could mean you have an underlying condition that needs treatment.

Bleeding Due to Medications


Some cases of bleeding in your mouth are caused by the medications you take. There are medications that hamper the flow of saliva or interfere with the flow of blood to tissues. This leads to less protection of gums cases of dry mouth. Dry mouth and the thickening or enlargement of gum tissues will make gum tissues more reactive to plaque. As a result, there will be increased gum disease progression. This will easily cause bleeding in the mouth. However, if you notice excessive bleeding, you should come in for checks immediately.

Stress


When you are stressed, you will be in a constant state of anxiety and agitation. This state hinders your immune system's ability to fight off oral conditions. It also causes inflammation in your blood vessels, causing the breakage of soft tissues in your mouth. This means that wounds in your mouth will not heal easily, causing bleeding.

Brushing Too Hard


If you brush your teeth too hard, you could also cause bleeding. No matter how healthy your gums are, rough and aggressive brushing will result in bleeding.
