Types of Dental Implants

There are three main types of implants:

  • Endosteal
  • Subperiosteal
  • Intramucosal

An endosteal implant is anchored directly into the jaw bone just like natural tooth roots. This is the standard type of implant. A subperiosteal implant is usually better suited for cases when the jaw structure is limited. This type of implant utilizes a metal framework that is fitted to the jaw bone during surgery to provide additional support for the implants. Intramucosal implants are used to offer superior stability and holding power for removable dentures. The doctors at the Center for Advanced Periodontics & Implant Dentistry will work with you to determine which type of implant is best suited to you.

Contact us today if you would like to learn more about the different types of dental implants available or to schedule a smile consultation with Dr. Dehni.
